The Living Planet Aquarium has been run with fiscal responsibility and has no outstanding debt, which has been shown nationally to be a major predictor of an aquarium´s success. Furthermore, the excellent management and visionary leadership of founder Brent Andersen, together with a dedicated and talented team, have allowed LPA to flourish. This summer the staff created a new exhibit entitled "Life on the Reef" to showcase the stunning and diverse nature of coral reefs.
The future is bright indeed with tremendous potential. Plans are actively underway for a dramatic expansion, to be completed in early 2009, that includes an aquatic-themed rainforest exhibit called "Journey to South America." Visitors will enjoy the vivid sights, sounds and intriguing animals, such as giant anacondas, piranhas, poison arrow frogs and other Amazon giants, found in the South American Rainforests. The exhibit will also educate guests about the biodiversity of rainforest ecosystems, the benefits rainforests provide us and how we can all help protect these amazing habitats!
The entire LPA team, both staff and board, and CEO Brent Andersen are committed to excellence in education, while working actively with community and science partners to create understanding of the critical nature of environmental conservation and stewardship. If you have an interest in becoming more actively involved , we invite you to attend one of our monthly board meetings. Or just come and enjoy the exhibits. We look forward to seeing you soon!
