Guest Services Assistant Manager Job Description

 

 

Company: The Living Planet Aquarium

Position: Guest Services Assistant Manager

Reports To: Director of Guest Services

 

Position Summary:

The Guest Services Assistant Manager will be primarily responsible for ensuring the highest level of service quality for our visitors and the efficient and accurate management of all guest services staff and transactions; ticketing, café and merchandise sales.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Train, manage and supervise Shift Managers to ensure performance is at optimal levels.
  2. Train and manage Guest Services staff to ensure all guest services goals and objectives are met; visitor experience, cash drawer management, proper ticket handling, etc. Serve as Manager on Duty, as scheduled
  3. Ensure all areas accessed by the public are safe, clean and properly maintained.
  4. Provide exemplary customer service and strong leadership in dealing with issues and emergencies. Meet the public and effectively resolve queries and problems. Recommend improvements in customer service standards in the guest services department.
  5. Responsible for all scheduling of Guest Services staff to ensure that peak business hours are fully staffed in order to achieve sales and customer satisfaction goals
  6. Committed to maintaining a positive, professional environment
  7. Responsible for the management and reconciliation of the vault; count and verify the opening and closing numbers in accordance with Aquarium policies.
  8. Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities (If Applicable):

The Guest Services Assistant Manager will be directly responsible for the Training of and the performance of the Guest Services Staff.

Qualifications Necessary to Perform the Job:

The Guest Services Assistant Manager will need to possess 2-3 yrs management/supervisory experience in hospitality, retail or customer service. The candidate should possess leadership skills, have excellent time management, communicate clearly and concisely, and be reliable, timely and pleasant. Ability to work independently. Highly proficient with Microsoft Excel and Word. Ability to learn and utilize various hospitality/sales-industry computer programs. Proven track record of management success, knowledge and abilities.

 

Physical Demands of the Job:

This job requires extended periods of standing and some light lifting; 20-30 pounds.


Compensation
Competitive hourly pay rate based on experience.

Hours of Operation
Sunday – Thursday: 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Friday – Saturday: 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Position: Building and Exhibit Maintenance

 

Reports to: Director of Guest Services

 

TLPA is looking to add an experienced, highly motivated Building and Exhibit Maintenance
to serve as the individual who will assure that the Living Planet Aquarium’s facilities are well maintained and are kept neat and clean. Makes minor improvements and repairs as necessary. Works with exhibits fabrication team to maintain exhibits. Works well independently as well with a team.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 


Requirements:
Must have valid driver’s license and your own vehicle
Ability to maintain an independent workload

Ability to stand for long periods of time, Ability to lift 50+ lbs



Education, Training and Experience:

Graduate of high school or GED. Experience in the various trades is preferred:

i.e.: plumbing, electric, carpentry, painting, cement, tile, ect. or two (2) years experience in building maintenance.

Tactful and diplomatic.

Ability to make good decisions.

Good time management skills.

 

Part time or Full time

Hours: 25-40 per week (flexible)

Position: Aquarist Level II
Reports To: Curator of Animals
Status: Full-time

Position Summary:

An Aquarist Level II is primarily responsible for the appearance and maintenance of all TLP tanks and their associated systems, as well as the feeding and care of all TLP animals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Provide daily cleaning and care of assigned exhibits and life support systems.
  2. Feed animals according to established feed schedule.
  3. Make daily observations of animals for health assessment and report suspected incidence of disease immediately to the management; collaborate on appropriate therapy.
  4. Maintain written records in accordance with established practice and policy.
  5. Manage water quality in assigned exhibits and holding tanks.
  6. Participate in the design and management of exhibit life support systems.
  7. Provide alternate coverage for other aquarists as assigned.
  8. Ensures all husbandry areas are kept clean, organized and hazard free.
  9. Participate in the documentation of protocols, procedures and schematics.
  10. Assume primary responsibility and oversight for husbandry quarantine and holding areas.

Qualifications Necessary to Perform the Job:

An Aquarist Level II will have previous exposure to aquariums and work/study background related to living organisms. They will demonstrate understanding of and aptitude for maintaining fish, invertebrates, reptiles and/or birds in captivity. They will also demonstrate an understanding of the operation of equipment necessary to maintain living exhibits; knowledge and skills for minor carpentry, plumbing, painting, fishing and boat handling; strength and endurance to perform physical demands of essential job functions with or without accommodation; and possess a valid driver’s license. A B.A. or B.S. with an emphasis on biology or science course work or equivalent knowledge and experience is required.

Position Summary:
The Prep Cook coordinates daily food set up and preparation.

Qualifications Necessary to Perform the Job:
Prep Cooks must possess previous experience in customer service roles, food preparation and basic knowledge of kitchen operations. Must have a current food handler’s permit or be willing to obtain one. The candidate should also have excellent time management, communication, organization and leadership skills.
