Rotational Volunteer

Volunteers at The Living Planet Aquarium perform many important responsibilities. Our volunteers receive ongoing education about our aquatic wildlife, participation in special events, and much more!

Some volunteer opportunities include:

Behind-the-Scenes support-

Volunteers assist staff with repairs, construction of new additions, water quality tests, food preparation, or cleaning exhibits.

Event Assistance -

Here at The Living Planet Aquarium we have many special events. Volunteers support all aspects of these events from set up to conducting activities during the events.

Guest Interaction and Galley Interpretation -

Guest interaction includes welcoming guests and assisting them with directions and general information about the aquarium. Gallery interpretation includes engaging guests from all ages and places to learn about our Earth´s ecosystems.

Rotational Volunteer Program prerequisites:

  • 18 years or older (Teens age 14 & 17, please visit our Aquateen Site)
  • U.S. citizen, or hold a current work visa, student visa or green card
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to pass a background check
  • Ability to volunteer at least 100 hours per year, 10 hours a month
  • Attend trainings
  • Unpaid position

Once volunteers have applied to our volunteer program volunteers are interviewed, reference are checked, background is checked and orientation is completed.

Become a Rotational Volunteer and help aid our staff teaching visitors interesting facts about animals and conservation, assist at events, help with birthday parties and help the aquarium to make a difference. You will have the opportunity to meet individuals from all over and join our aquarium staff, who share, the same excitement for our worlds environments as you.
