SUMMER CAMPS

There’s a Loveland Living Planet Summer Camp for every animal-loving kid. This year, we’ve added new camps and revamped some old favorites. All camps include Animal Encounters, behind-the-scenes experiences, themed activities, T-shirt, water bottle, backpack, and access to camp photos.

NEW THIS YEAR:

  • All-new camps for ages 4-5, 8-9, and 12-14
  • New experiences and activities added to camps for ages 6-7 and 10-11
  • Marine Biologist in Training camp is now for ages 15-17
  • Lunch included for full-day camps
Scholarships are available for all camps through the Andeavor Summer Scholars Program.

REGISTRATION

MINIMUM AGE

Campers must have reached the minimum age by the first day of camp. Loveland Living Planet Aquarium reserves the right to cancel or alter registrations of children registered in camps that do not match their age. Campers must be toilet trained to participate in an Aquarium Summer Camp.

EXTENDED HOURS CARE

We love spending extra time with your campers! We can provide supervised care from 8 to 9 AM in the morning, 12 to 1 PM in the afternoon (half-day camps only), and 3 to 4 PM in the afternoon. Campers will enjoy age-appropriate free-choice activities. Extended care hours can be purchased any time during camps by speaking with staff during check in/out. Cash only please. Cost: $7/hour

CUTOFF DATES

Registration for camps will remain open until one week before camp. No registration will be allowed after cutoff date. Cutoff days are as follows:

  • Camps Running June 4-8: Monday, May 28th
  • Camps Running June 11-15: Monday, June 4th
  • Camps Running June 18-22: Monday, June 11th
  • Camps Running June 25-29: Monday, June 18rd
  • Camps Running July 9-13: Monday, July 2nd
  • Camps Running July 16-20: Monday, July 9th
  • Camps Running July 30-Aug 3: Monday, July 23th
  • Camps Running August 6-10: Monday, July 30th
  • Camps Running August 13-17: Monday, August 6th
PICKUP/DROPOFF

Pick up and drop off of campers can only be performed by authorized adults listed on the registration form. Additional authorized adults can be added during camp if needed.  Photo ID is required when picking up campers with no exceptions. Campers may be dropped off no more than 15 minutes before camp start time and must be picked up no later than 15 minutes after camp end time. Failure to comply with drop off/pick up window may result in additional fees.

CREATIVE CRITTERS Ages 4 - 5

This all-new camp for ages 4-5 celebrates art and  nature. Campers will try their hand at painting, sculpture, dance, music, theater, and more using creatures from around the world as inspiration. This half-day camp is perfect for budding artists, dancers, and actors, as well as animal-lovers. Campers will go behind the scenes, meet lots of interesting creatures, help feed the animals, and enjoy lots of hands-on fun!

FEATHERS, FINS, AND FUR Ages 6 - 7

Do you have a scientist in the making? Are you constantly answering questions about animals, plants, and the big wide world? Send your little explorer to this exciting camp where they will learn about aquarium animals and their wonderful adaptations. Animal encounters, active games, crafts, and behind-the-scenes experiences will be the highlight of their summer. This half-day camp is perfect for animal-loving kids ages 6-7.

PIRATE SCIENCE Ages 8 - 9

Calling all pirates! We’re setting sail for adventure at Loveland Living Planet Aquarium. Join a pirate crew in this rowdy (but not too rowdy) camp for science-loving seafarers ages 8-9. Learn about the wildlife and human cultures from places real pirates visited in their travels. In this full-day camp, our crew will bust some pirate myths, experiment with high seas science, and meet the inhabitants of  our Living Planet.

ANIMAL AMBASSADORS Ages 10 - 11

We’ve revamped this popular camp for animal-loving tweens ages 10-11 with new activities and experiences.  Campers willspend plenty of time learning how to care for Loveland Living Planet Aquarium’s Animal Ambassadors, but  they’ll also learn how they can help animal species around the world through their actions here in Utah. Campers will explore fun ways to give nature a helping hand from composting to solar cooking all while helping care for the creatures here at the Aquarium.

GAME ON! Ages 12 - 14

Does your camper dare to eat a bug? Can they  handle holding a cockroach? Imagine all the fun of competing in a reality TV game show with none of the pressure. That’s what younger teens will experience in this all new adventure experience. Campers will push their minds and bodies with challenges for individuals, small groups, and the whole camp. Who will have the focus, leadership, and teamwork skills to claim the esteemed Golden Octopus and be crowned the Living Planet Game Master? It could be your camper!

MARINE BIOLOGIST IN TRAINING Ages 15 - 17

Due to popular demand, we’ve expanded the age range of our capstone camp to include older teens. If your camper dreams of a career studying the ocean and all its amazing inhabitants, this is the camp for them. Future Marine Biologists will learn important principals of oceanography, job shadow members of our animal-care staff, conduct scientific experiments, and visit Utah’s ocean, the Great Salt Lake, to meet real scientists working in the field.
