SUMMER CAMPS

Do you have a kid who is wild about animals? Is your tween a marine biologist in the making? Imagine giving your little scientist the experience of a lifetime at a Loveland Living Planet Aquarium Summer Camp. All our camps are full of animal encounters, behind-the-scenes access, and hands-on science learning. Camps run Monday through Friday and include a camp t-shirt, water bottle, and photograph.

Tide Pool Titans: Ages 4 to 5

Tide Pool Titans is the perfect place for little superheroes or warrior princesses. After learning all about animal champions and their amazing powers, campers will create their own nature-powered superheroes and save the Aquarium from the forces of evil. This half day, weeklong camp is perfect for heroes ages 4 to 5 and focuses on the power of pretend play inspired by our animal friends.

Feathers, Fins, and Fur: Ages 6 to 7

Do you have a scientist in the making? Are you constantly answering questions about animals, plants, and the big wide world? Tell your explorer to bring all the best questions to this exciting camp where they will learn about Aquarium animals and their wonderful adaptations. Animal encounters, active games, crafts, and behind-the-scenes experiences will prepare campers to create a wildlife habitat in their own backyards. This half day, weeklong camp is perfect for animal-loving kids ages 6-7.

CSI: Creature Science Investigators: Ages 8 to 9

Are sharks blood thirsty man-eaters? Do people really swallow spiders in their sleep? Do goldfish really only have three-second memories? Creature Science Investigators will debunk junk science in this revamped mystery-solving camp. Young investigators will confront new challenges each day, and use observation and investigation to uncover the facts.

The Field Trip Edition will spend their final day busting dinosaur myths and meeting farm animal friends at Thanksgiving Point. Aquarium staff will accompany their campers on this fun-filled trip to a whole new facility. Each camper will receive two complimentary tickets to explore Thanksgiving Point venues with their guests on the last day of camp. Parents will be required to drop off and pick up their campers at Thanksgiving Point the last day of camp.

Animal Ambassadors: Ages 10 to 11

The Animal Ambassadors Camp provides a chance to learn what it takes to care for our collection of wild animals. From food preparation to water quality testing, future keepers ages 10-11 will get plenty of hands-on experience caring for and interacting with our Animal Ambassadors along with a chance to educate others about what they’ve learned.

MBIT: Marine Biologist in Training: Ages 12 to 14

Teens who want a career studying dolphins or cataloging life on an ocean reef will be right at home in the Marine Biologist in Training Camp. This camp is the perfect blend of learning and fun. With activities ranging from feeding penguins and stingrays to water fights and scavenger hunts, there is something for everyone. Campers ages 12 to 14 will gain an in-depth introduction to the study of marine ecosystems and their inhabitants, culminating in an opportunity to job shadow one of our aquarists.

Field Trip Edition: At the end of the week, campers will take a field trip to Utah’s ocean, the Great Salt Lake. Using skills developed at the Aquarium, campers will collect samples, record data, and do field work to contribute to real, ongoing scientific research for the Utah Division of Natural Resources. Transportation is provided. Parents will drop off and pick up their campers at the Aquarium.

Tesoro Scholarship Program ages 4 - 14

As part of their commitment to investing in our planet’s future, Tesoro has generously provided funding for the Tesoro Summer Scholars Program. Parents or guardians of children ages 4-14 that attend a Title 1 school OR are eligible for free or reduced lunch OR are a foster child are welcome to apply. Scholarship applicants will receive full camp tuition and daily lunches free of charge. Scholarship funds are limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis upon meeting eligibility requirements.

Registration Policies

Campers must have reached the minimum age by the first day of camp. Loveland Living Planet Aquarium reserves the right to cancel or alter registrations of children registered in camps that do not match their age.

Campers must be toilet trained to participate in an Aquarium Summer Camp.

Registration for camps, lunch, and extended care will remain open until one week before camp. No registration will be allowed after cutoff date. Cutoff days are as follows:

  • Camps Running June 12-16: Monday, June 5th
  • Camps Running June 19-23: Monday, June 12th
  • Camps Running June 26-30: Monday, June 19th
  • Camps Running July 10-14: Monday, July 3rd
  • Camps Running July 17-21: Monday, July 10th
  • Camps Running July 25-29: Monday, July 17th
  • Camps Running July 31-Aug 4: Monday, July 24th
  • Camps Running August 7-11: Monday, July 31st

Pick up and drop off of campers can only be performed by authorized adults listed on the registration form. Additional authorized adults can be added during camp if needed.  ID is required when picking up campers with no exceptions.

Valley Fair Mall Living Planet Days

Can’t make one of our summer camps? You can still experience the fun at Valley Fair Mall. Take a break from summer shopping to meet Aquarium Educators and animals, play fun games, and get some sharable photos. Living Planet Days take place from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and are free to the public thanks to our friends at Valley Fair Mall.

Lunches are available for all full day camps. Campers also enjoy a 10 percent discount at the Aquarium’s Café Avalon.

Extended Hours Care

We can provide supervised care from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. in the morning, 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the afternoon for half-day camps, and 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in the afternoon. Campers will enjoy age-appropriate free-choice activities. Extended hours must be purchased no later than one week before the first day of camp.

Cost:

Regular: $7 an hour

Members: $6 an hour
