Woundfin
Size: Usually only about 9 cm. in length
Habitat: Small to medium rivers with swift moving currents. Prefer a sandy river bottom and warm water. Young can be found in smaller pools adjacent to the river where algae forms.
Diet: Insects, algae and larva
Currently on the Endangered Species list. Decrease in population is mainly due to habitat loss and introduction to non-native species. The woundfin has been reintroduced to a number of different rivers in Arizona but none have been able to live and thrive.
