Volunteer Opportunities

How Do I Get Started?

Pick up an application at the aquarium, call (801)495-4448 ext. 212 or complete an application online. For more information, e-mail volunteer@thelivingplanet.com.

When Do I Start?

Your application will be reviewed and we will contact you to set up an interview if positions are available. After the interview and background check, you will then be notified of an orientation date if your availability and skills match the job description. Orientations are by invitation only and are not open to the public. All applicants are required to attend the orientation before volunteering at our organization. After the orientation, you will be contacted to discuss your scheduling.

Our volunteers are from all different backgrounds, ages, and professions. As a volunteer at the Living Planet Aquarium, you will support our mission in a variety of ways, including:

PROGRAMS

In-house Rotational Volunteer Become an In-house Rotational Volunteer at the Living Planet Aquarium and assist our staff in educating the public about animals and conservation, assist at events and birthday parties. You will have the opportunity to meet a diverse group of individuals who share your excitement for our Earth’s environments. Join the aquarium to explore, discover, learn and make a difference.

Behind the Scenes Volunteer

Become an In-house Behind the Scenes Volunteer at the Living Planet Aquarium and assist our staff with exhibits, cleaning tanks, other behinds the scenes aquarium necessities, birthday parties and special events. You will have the chance to meet friendly, dedicated, and hard working individuals that enjoy giving back anyway they can. You will have the opportunity to work side by side with our talented staff while improving the aquarium for everyone to enjoy. Join the aquarium to explore, discover, learn and make a difference.

Field Program

Have you ever wanted to learn more about the wild environment just outside your community? Join the Living Planet Aquarium staff on single day events venturing through Utah’s environments collecting samples, identifying animals, eradicating invasive species, and cleaning up wilderness area for everyone to enjoy. This is the perfect way to get out and see Utah’s beautiful landscape, meet exciting new people, and make a difference. Work together with the Aquarium to explore, discover, learn and make a difference.
