Planning Your Visit

Prior to your Visit

Once you have booked, you will receive an automatic email with your ticket information, date, and time. Attached will also be the Field Trip Planning Guide. Please review this document prior to your visit.

To help enhance the student visit experience we welcome you to utilize the student research guides*. The research guides are core-based workbooks that students can complete as they tour the building. They will be available online here and can be printed in black and white. *Research guides are currently under revision.

Arrival Instructions

Upon arrival please have students remain on the bus. If your group arrived in separate vehicles, please gather together in one group off to the side of the front walkway.

Please send the contact teacher with the Teacher Check-In Form (which will be e-mailed to you) to our new Welcome Center. If there is a significant change (+25%) of patrons attending the field trip, they may be subject to pay full price admission or a wait time of up to 30 minutes.

When check-in is complete, the whole group will form a line on the south side of the walkway and enter through the Welcome Center.

Lunch

At this time, the Aquarium is NOT able to accommodate school group lunches in the facility. We do not allow school groups to store or eat their lunches inside our building.

We allow school groups to eat outside the building on the grassy areas and walkways around the Aquarium but ask that they bring their own garbage bags and clean up after themselves.

There are also two nearby parks suitable for eating sack lunches:

  • Galena Hills Park – 12500 S. Galena Park Blvd. Draper, UT 84020
Covered picnic tables, restrooms, and a playground. (Short drive from the Aquarium)
  • Inauguration Park – 326 W. Inauguration Rd. Draper, UT 84020
A few picnic tables and a large grassy area. (10-minute walk from the Aquarium)

School groups are not permitted to eat in the Reef Café unless the entire group is purchasing lunch and has informed the Aquarium ahead of time. School groups will be asked to relocate if lunches are brought into the café. Patio seating is also reserved for café patrons only.

Please e-mail schoolprograms@thelivingplanet.com ahead of time if a large portion of your group plans to purchase lunch in the Reef Café so our staff can be appropriately prepared. The Café will need at least 48-hour notice if you are planning on purchasing lunch from them during your Field Trip.
