Scout Workshops

We offer workshops for Boy and Girl Scouts. All workshops include hands-on, council-approved instruction and Aquarium admission for the day. All our educators have completed Youth Protection Training

Workshops occur fall through spring and require a minimum of 10 participants to run. To schedule a private workshop for groups of 10 or more, contact Kristen Smith at specialprograms@thelivingplanet.com.

BOY SCOUTS

We offer 4-hour merit badge workshops for Boy Scouts that include hands-on science learning, all-day admission to the Aquarium, and on-site blue card sign off with completion of workshop and prerequisites. New this year, we will also be offering a 2-hour workshop for Cub Scout Bears. To schedule a workshop or add your name to our interest list, please contact specialprograms@thelivingplanet.com.

GIRL SCOUTS

Girl Scouts are always welcome at Loveland Living Planet Aquarium. Whether you want to learn about the wonders of water, the magic of flowers and bugs, or join an Aquarium-wide scavenger hunt, we have a program for you. Currently, workshops are only available to groups of 10 scouts or more. To schedule a workshop or add your name to our interest list, please contact specialprograms@thelivingplanet.com.

Oceanography Merit Badge

Scouts will learn about all the ways scientists study Earth’s ocean through hands-on experiments, demonstrations, and interactive learning. We’ll test water samples, use sonar to map the seafloor, experiment with waves, and meet some of the creatures that call the ocean home. This 4-hour workshop includes Aquarium admission for the day.

All scouts must be accompanied by an adult while touring the Aquarium (drop off and pick up for workshop hours only is allowed).


Cost

Scouts: $25
Leaders in Uniform: FREE
Additional Chaperones: $7

Environmental Science Merit Badge

Join us at the Aquarium as we explore the environments of Utah. Scouts will discover and tackle real-world environmental challenges unique to our state through hands-on activities and interactive learning. This 4-hour workshop includes Aquarium admission for the day and covers requirements 1, 2, 3A, 3B, 3C, 3D, 3E, 5 and 6.

All scouts must be accompanied by an adult while touring the Aquarium (drop off and pick up for workshop hours only is allowed).


Cost

Scouts: $25

Bear Adventure: Fur, Feathers, and Ferns

Join us on a hike through the deserts of Utah, the rainforests of South America, and the Caribbean Ocean… without ever leaving the Aquarium! Along the way, scouts will participate in hands-on activities to learn about the many signs plants and wildlife leave behind. This two-hour workshop provides a comprehensive tour of the Aquarium galleries and admission for the rest of the day.

All scouts must be accompanied by an adult while touring the Aquarium (drop off and pick up for workshop hours only is allowed).


Cost

Scouts: $20
Leaders in Uniform: FREE
Additional Chaperones: $7

Rosie Petal Party

Join Rosie and her friends to learn why we all need to do our part to keep our communities healthy and clean. You’ll read Rosie’s story, meet some critters that need our help to keep their homes clean, make a recycled craft, and hunt down the nefarious Litter Bug in this exciting two-hour adventure. After the workshop, enjoy admission to the Aquarium for the rest of the day. Non-leader parents and siblings must pay separate admission.

All scouts must be accompanied by an adult while touring the Aquarium (drop off and pick up for workshop hours only is allowed).


Cost

Scouts: $20
Leaders: 1 free per 5 girls
Additional Leaders: $7
Please ensure your group has a minimum 5 to 1 ratio of girls to leaders

Wonders of the Water Journey

Join Loveland Living Planet Aquarium to explore the Wonders of Water! In this special two-part workshop (with a half-hour break for lunch), scouts will complete the LOVE, SAVE, and SHARE water awards. Discover why water is so important to all life and learn about some of the biggest water challenges that we face today. Brownies will make posters, practice public speaking, and then go out on the Aquarium floor to educate others about the value of water. Aquarium admission is included. Journey patches available for purchase at the council shop. Girls do not need to attend with an adult but adults must register to attend.

All scouts must be accompanied by an adult while touring the Aquarium (drop off and pick up for workshop hours only is allowed).
