TEACHER PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Loveland Living Planet Aquarium’s Teacher Resource Program visits every school district in Utah on a three-year rotation. Workshops are free for public and charter school teachers. Funding for these workshops comes from the Utah State Legislature’s Informal Science Education Enhancement (iSEE) grant and the Education Alliance Partnership in association with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). All workshops are free and include materials, lesson plans, and Utah State Board of Education relicensure points.

2019 TRP Schedule
This free, 4-hour workshop is correlated to the new 6th grade SEEd standards. Teachers will learn about three-dimensional science instruction as introduced by the Next Generation Science Standards and how they can apply this exciting instructional model for their students. In this workshop, participants will learn how to teach using phenomenon, engage students with science practices, and identify and emphasize cross-cutting science concepts.
All participants will receive lesson plans and teaching materials correlated to standard 6.4, Stability and Change in Ecosystems. Additionally, participants will receive four re-licensure points and a materials kit.

Join NOAA OER staff to learn more about the importance of ocean exploration, current exploration technologies, and recent deep-sea discoveries. This full day Professional Development workshop will introduce standards-based, hands-on activities and other resources that guide classroom teaching and learning.
This eight-hour workshop includes breakfast, lunch, printed lesson guides, a $75 stipend, and 8 re-licensure points. The workshop is geared towards grades 6-12, but teachers of all grades are welcome..
