Aquarium Day Camps

We look forward to welcoming our campers back to the Aquarium for Summer 2021! In order to provide a safe, fun experience for our camp families, camps will look a little bit different this year. Please review our safety policies carefully to decide if this is the right season for your camper to return to Aquarium Camp. If not, our Virtual Adventures may be a better fit!

All in-person camps include access to camp photos, daily snacks while at camp, cool Aquarium swag, and special animal experiences. Lunch is included for full-day campers. You can view our lunch menu HERE.

What’s

New

To reduce the number of guests entering the building, we will be implementing curbside pickup and drop off. Simply pull up to the curb and wait for a camp staff member to assist you. Please wear a mask when staff approach your vehicle. We will ask you a few prescreening questions, take your camper’s temperature, then escort your camper to the building to join the fun!

We will be utilizing pick-up passwords to expedite the check-out process. You will have the opportunity to set your pick-up password when you fill out your camper’s forms. Simply tell camp staff your password at pick up and they’ll bring your camper out to your car.

Extended care will not be available this summer. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Masks & Physical Distancing

At this time, masks covering the mouth and nose are required for campers and staff while indoors. Campers will get plenty of outdoor time each day to take a break from their masks. Please send them with appropriate sun protection. We will provide water bottles and access to water.

Camp capacity has also been reduced to allow for physical distancing. Please be aware that camp sessions may sell out more quickly than usual.

New

Safety Policies

Due to the unique challenges presented by COVID-19, the Aquarium is implementing the following policies to protect the health and safety of our camp families:

  • Reduced class sizes to allow for physical distancing (8 campers, 2 staff)
  • Curbside pick up and drop off
  • Daily COVID-19 screening and temperature check
  • Facial covering required for staff and participants
  • Increased hand washing and sanitizing
  • Increased outdoor time and activities

What to Expect

Can I come inside the building with my camper?

This year, we will implement curbside dropoff and pickup for your safety and convenience. Just pull up to the curb and an Aquarium employee will greet you and ask you a few screening questions. Camp staff will escort your camper to their group. To protect the safety of our staff and the other campers, we ask that you wear a mask and remain in your car during drop off rather than escorting your child inside.

We know that first-day jitters can be tough for young campers. We suggest prepping campers in advance for what to expect. The sample script below can help you.

“Next week, you’re going to go to camp at the Aquarium! We’re going to get into the car on Monday morning and drive to the Aquarium. Once we get there, a nice person in a blue shirt is going to come over to the car. They are our friends that work at the Aquarium. I’m going to stay in the car while you go inside the Aquarium with some other kids and our friend in the blue shirt. You’re going to stay at the Aquarium for three hours. You will see cool animals, play games with other kids, and have a snack. Then at lunch time, I’m going to come back in the car to pick you up. Then we’ll drive home and eat lunch and you can tell me about the fun things you did at the Aquarium!”

Going over this script in the days leading up to camp and even acting it out with toys can help young campers feel more confident and prepared to go to camp.

Will it still be Aquarium Camp?

All of the changes and policies in place this summer are designed to create a safe experience for our campers and families. There is no doubt that camp will look a little different this year, but the core of our program is still the same. Here at Aquarium Camps, we know that every camper is a scientist. Our camp environment fosters curiosity about our living planet and gives campers the space to explore, discover, and learn. All of the experiences you’ve come to expect from Aquarium Camp like up-close animal experiences, engaging science experiments, and fun team-building activities are still here, just with a few modifications. Aquarium Camp will help your child build confidence and a love of learning this summer and beyond.

Can my camper receive an exemption from wearing a mask?

In accordance with health guidelines, all campers must wear a mask while indoors. We will provide opportunities throughout the day for them to take breaks from wearing their masks. We suggest having your camper practice wearing a mask before attending camp. If your camper cannot wear a mask, Virtual Aquarium Adventures may be a better fit for them this season.

My camper has tested positive for COVID-19, has been exposed to someone with COVID-19, and/or has a fever or other symptoms. What should I do?

In this situation, please keep your camper home and contact us as soon as possible.

We recognize that camp fees can be a significant investment for families, which is why we have revised our refund policy this year to give you greater flexibility. Full refunds can be given if you contact us before 8 a.m. on the first day of your camp session. If your camper has already started a session, you will receive a prorated refund for each full day missed, up to 50 percent of total camp fees.

Registration Policies

Campers must have reached the minimum age by the first day of camp. Loveland Living Planet Aquarium reserves the right to cancel or alter registrations of children registered in camps that do not match their age. Campers must be toilet trained to participate in an Aquarium Camp. Registration for camps will remain open until one week before camp, or until full. No registration will be allowed after the cutoff date.

The Aquarium is committed to providing a safe, enjoyable experience for all campers. Whenever possible, we are happy to work with guardians to make reasonable accommodations for campers with special physical, behavioral, emotional, cognitive, or medical needs. If camp management consults with a camper and their guardians and determines that the needs of a camper cannot safely be met, the Aquarium reserves the right to cancel their registration and provide a full refund.

Loveland Living Planet Aquarium reserves the right to cancel registration for any other reason. In the event that a registration is canceled, registrants will be notified and receive a full refund or may be allowed to transfer their registration to another session.
