PLANNING YOUR VISIT

Prior to your Visit

About seven to 10 days before your scheduled visit you should receive an instruction confirmation, which includes arrival procedures and reservation details. Additionally you will receive a chaperone guide, which outlines chaperone expectations and suggestions. Please take a moment to review the information contained within those documents. Print and distribute those documents as necessary.

To help enhance the student visit experience we welcome you to utilize the student research guides. The research guides are core based workbooks that can be completed by the students as they tour the building. They are available online here and can be printed in black and white.

Arrival Instructions

Upon arrival please have students remain on the bus. If your group arrived in separate vehicles, please gather together in one group off to the side of the front walkway.

Please send the contact teacher with the Teacher Check-In Form (which will be e-mailed to you) inside the building through the far right front door.

When check-in is complete, the whole group will form a line on the south side of the walkway and enter the building through the far right doors of the main entrance.

Lunch

At this time the Aquarium is NOT able to accommodate school group lunches in the facility. We do not allow school groups to store or eat their lunches inside our building.

We do allow school groups to eat outside the building on the grassy areas and walkways around the Aquarium, but ask that they bring their own garbage bags and clean up after themselves.

There are also two nearby parks suitable for eating sack lunches:

  • Galena Hills Park – 12500 S. Galena Park Blvd. Draper, UT 84020
Covered picnic tables, restrooms and a playground. (Short drive from the Aquarium)
  • Inauguration Park – 326 W. Inauguration Rd. Draper, UT 84020
A few picnic tables and large grassy area. (10 minute walk from the Aquarium)

School groups are not permitted to eat in the Café unless the entire group is purchasing lunch and has informed the Aquarium ahead of time. School groups will be asked to relocate if lunches are brought into the Café.

Please e-mail fieldtrips@thelivingplanet.com ahead of time if a large portion of your group plans to purchase lunch in the Café so our staff can be appropriately prepared. The Café will need at least 48 hours notice if you are planning on purchasing lunch from them during your Field Trip.
